Mewing Maxims

So what is Mewing and what are these Maxims?

‘Mewing’ is a phenomenon that has taken off globally and is now practiced by millions of people worldwide that are experiencing real improvements in health and appearance resulting from improved oral and facial posture.

Mewing is the practice of reminding the body how it was designed to function. Sit up straight, close your mouth, chew hard food, and swallow correctly. The tongue should be on the roof of the mouth at rest and when swallowing.

The core beliefs that underpin ‘ Mewing’ are simple and irrefutable:

1 – Crooked teeth, imbalanced jaws and less attractive faces are predominantly the result of environmental and lifestyle, not genetic influences.

2 – Crooked teeth are a symptom of poor craniofacial growth and other underlying health issues.

3 – The most common cranial deformity is the three-dimensional collapse of the maxillae (upper jaws) and is called Craniofacial Dystrophy. Modern orthodontic measurements and assessments do not adequately identify this deformity.

4 – This three-dimensional collapse or retraction of the maxillae leads to malocclusion and a reduction in the breathing spaces within and behind the maxillae.
