Professor John Mew, clinician, scientist and author, discovered in 1975 that that changing tongue posture and keeping the mouth closed, radically changed the growth of the teeth, jaws and face.
Doctor Michael Mew qualified in 1993 as a dentist at the Royal London Hospital, and as a specialist orthodontist in 2004 at the Royal Aarhus University in Denmark. Dr. Mew has lectured extensively around the world his research interest is understanding the relationship between orthodontics, posture, ENT problems, jaw joint problems, snoring and sleep apnoea, with his focus of improving orthotropic therapy. He is particularly interested in the cause of crooked teeth and the Aetiology of Malocclusion, as he states that when the profession understands so little it is best to start at the bottom and work up. Currently he is the Clinical Director and Lecturer at the London School of Facial Orthotropics, providing orthotropic therapy and teaching. His overwhelming desire is to see public health initiatives aimed at preventing the crooked teeth and these related conditions.
